Moving & Sale

We've decided that we should live in Arizona full time, so now comes the logistics of finishing a house, selling it and disposing of  many years of stuff.  I plain just have too much stuff.  Here is some of it that might be of use to beaders or anyone who crafts. Oh, house has to go too......

I've had duplicate studios in both New Hampshire and Arizona for 13 years and need to find new homes for the furniture  fixtures and extra crafting supplies.  I warn you, very few of the things that I'll be selling can be mailed.  I'm in south Central NH near the VT and Mass. borders if you are near enough for a short road trip.

OK, here's a PDF of  Craft related things.  CLICK HERE

This is a special/custom built bead storage cabinet...  no beads in Plano boxes go with it and I'm not sure it would fit in a car as it's 6'tall.

Small metal light table - Pre-digital graphic arts, but I still enjoy using a light table that I can throw a T-square on.  There is also a Nikon SLR camera on the list.

Cabochons - These are several lots, no picking them apart.  Both my Father and Brother made cabs from Arizona copper minerals that are rare and from now defunct mines.  What would I do with the several hundred that I have left?  Go in with a friend, buy the lot and really save.

Who wants vintage glass, bakelite or plastic necklaces for the beads?  Great selection of them to either wear or take apart.

Are any of you (or spouses) MG car aficionados?  I've also just sorted out the remains of 40 years of car restoration stuff.  The cars are long gone, but I have 2 boxes of drawings, lube charts, original operator manuals, magazines, lots of old model cars, moto meter, car badges, etc.

Bead Room Clean Out

Most of the leftover beads have found new homes.  There are a few interesting lots left.  Download the PDF HERE  for prices, lot numbers and general descriptions.  Pretty much, what you see is what you get. Sold by time stamp on your email to judith "at" beadline.com. All payments must be through PayPal.

Now, here's a special deal... buy all 4 lots of beads, 1 lb+ of interesting beady goodness for $150 ($6 SH Priority) and I will pack it all in a Bead Girl jewelry pouch.  Once an individual lot has sold, this offer isn't valid.

At $38 per group, there's a bargain or two.

African Stripes ~ Advance eBook Sale

The African Stripes eBook is ready to go off to my Editor for final editing.  With any luck, it will be ready to publish by the 1st of  October.  Would you like a advance publication copy at a special price? Check for details at the end of this post.
eBook Details on Bead Line Web Page

I am so very happy with the way this pattern set came out.  It manages to maintain it's African heritage yet looks clean and contemporary.  If you like the opaque primary colors that I used, then you are going to be fascinated with what these patterns look like in other colors and bead sizes; 15's, 11's and especially 10/0 Delicas.  I think the Mud Cloth Necklace done in cobalt and silver 8's is one of the most elegant ropes I've seen.  Here are some of the Blog Posts with photos of what others have done.

9/30/2012 - offer closed - it's on sale at www.bead-patterns.com

Between now and when the final, edited PDF goes to Bead-Patterns for publication, (Oct. 1st ??) I'm offering a special Advance Copy package.
  • Digitally signed PDF
  • Extra snake Pattern Rope included
  • $18.00  (will be $19.95)
Your copy will be emailed to you when all editing is complete, but before it goes on sale to the general public.  That could be this week or as late as the first week of October.

Approaching Elder Status - selling out

I have too many things.  I've collected stuff for way too many years.  Does one really need almost 200 fabric table cloths?  Now 200 bead tubes is another matter - they don't take up as much space as tablecloths .... do they?  OK, it's time to downsize and make two studios fit all into one studio.

I've gone and opened an Etsy Shop to make this easier.
First off is the good stuff  -  Brand New Unique magnetic Clasps

I've just finished listing all of the bead-crochet magnetic clasps

Finally I have some great clasps in a beautiful selection of colors. The best is that I can reproduce all of those colors, so if you want more than one or two, give me a yell and we can talk.

Then there is the "Selling Out" part - The cleaning out process, like.....

Monograms - I can give you a great deal on C, H, & G monograms... I'll even throw in the napkins free of charge!!

The Shop is still building and I hope to get a few things done every day for a while.

Next up will be some vintage 1920's glass pearls and 1950's Czech Mambo beads.  In the early 80's I stuck my hand up at a rural auction because they said, "beads"  and  "no bids" - well I bought a 50 lb box of vintage beads for $15 and I still have about half of them left. Anyone want to save me the trouble of listing a whole bunch of vintage beads?

This is going to be very interesting as I have to make everything from 2 houses/studios fit into one 950 sq. ft. space.

So, help me out.... keep checking Bead Line's Etsy Shop for some good deals.

Magnet Clasp - all gone

The learning curve has been steep, I couldn't get exactly the colors I wanted, the resin didn't want to cooperate, but I finally have the magnetic clasps I've wanted for the past 2 years.  It boils down to the fact -- if you can't find what you want, then learn how to make them.

I've used them on individual bead-crochet bracelets.

These are all of my pattern samples from African Stripes. It makes a fun wrist full of bracelets.

I designed these for bead crocheted ropes, but would love to see how somebody would use them in stringing or other beadwork. An 8mm bead does fit nicely into the open end.

Then, for a change of pace -- you can clip them all together for a variable length necklace.

Two bracelets that fit your wrist makes you a choker necklace. . .  nice to know.

Thanks for the response - all Sold Out...
email me if you have a color that you would like to have and I'll see what I can do for you.

Bead Room Clean Out

I'm only a month away from packing up the car and heading to Arizona for the winter. Over the summer I've been setting things aside in the studio that I know I won't use or have dribs and drabs leftover from projects. I also ended up with remains of kits that were made up for events this past summer.

In kits I have a few Cruise Ring kits (peyote technique), some Raised Spiral bead crochet kits (good for beginning crocheters) and about a dozen advanced Major Scales kits (Magatamas in bead crochet). Most are unique, one-of-a-kind color combinations.

Here is a photo of one of the bead groups that need a new home: a slice of a pool ball for a focal, antique French enameled number discs, Sea Urchin spine beads, Antique cutoffs from real ivory piano keys, unique Bisbee AZ cabochons from mines that haven't produced since the 50's or 60's. At half the wholesale value (or what I paid) there are some fantastic deals in the bead groups.

So here's the deal..... On kits, buy enough and you get 10% off of the listed price. On the bead groups the price is HALF, yes 50%, of the value listed on the photo. All shipping is a flat fee of $5 and the only payment I can take is through PayPal (they take credit cards if you don't have an account). What's not to like about a sale like this and I don't need to pack any of this up for the trek to Arizona.

Photos, prices and a kit list - All done with
email me with your list and I'll let you know if it's still for sale.

Bead Room Cleanout Sale

It's in the air.... I know of several other beaders who are de-stashing or organizing their beads and/or studios.

The more I dig, the more I come up with things that I wonder why I bought them or why I bought so many of them. Because I snowbird, I have limited space and I've now vastly exceeded that space. Something has to be done. Help me simplify my life and give some of my treasures a new home.

This is the second round of my beadroom clean out. There will be one or two more after this one. I'm going to see if this format works - so bear with me please. These items are all marked for individual sale. Once the interest has waned, I'll re-combine the leftovers into groups and you would then purchase everything in that group. Sort of like a box lot at an auction.... the good with the uninteresting.

First come, first served ..... email me with the group name and what you want. I'll let you know if it's still available. Payment will only be by PayPal. Anything under $25 will ship First Class Mail for $2, otherwise it will go in a $5 Priority Mail envelope.

Closet Cleaning

It's drip, drip, dripping outside. The 60 degrees of damp seems to have settled into my joints. It's a good day to play with beads. Sorting beads is playing, yes?Why does a couple of days of rain put me in the mood to clean closets? Well, not exactly closets, but my bead inventory. I guess it's similar because when I get done and close the lids you really won't be able to see that I've done anything at all.

I cleaned out my 40 year fabric stash as I hadn't done any sewing in maybe 15 years. I needed the room and it's time to try and simplify things somewhat. One of my sisters has gone minimalist to the point that my Brother-in-Law mentioned to me that he and the cats were afraid they weren't going to have anything to sit on. I'm not thinking to clean down to quite that point, but years of uncontrolled collecting of neat things has finally gotten to me.

See this pile of beads? That is the second round of beading things that I have purged and really just don't need or want any more. Like I told one of my friends after the first round of bead clean out, it's just the tip of the beadburg.

About 5 years ago I sort of went a bit batty at the Tucson Gem Show and bought freshwater pearls. Not just a strand or two, but hanks of them. I haven't used pearls in my beadwork for 2 years now, so I think it's time to find new homes for some of them. I've had the enjoyment of fondling all the different ones in the pearl box as I sorted them out. Sometime next week I'll be doing a beadroom clean-out sale again. I have to think about it and maybe I'll do it by individual item and maybe I'll do it in groups. There is everything from 11/0 seed beads, hand carved large beads, gemstones. oddities and pearls.... lots of pearls. Stay tuned - one more round after I take care of this batch.

Now back to watching the water drip off of the eaves and the ferns getting bigger and lusher by the hour.

This book contains a wealth of patterns that run parallel to the length of a rope. It covers the theory of how triangular ropes are designed with well-illustrated examples of each concept.

If you have mastered the basic art of bead crochet, you will want to explore these more advanced slip-stitched concepts.

Some Summer Beading

It's time to string up a bunch of bead crochet projects to take with you while you enjoy some of your Summer activities. Have something on hand while at the beach, lake, pic-nic, camping, family reunions, or anywhere you will be sitting for awhile.
.
To help you get going, I've put some complete project instruction sets on sale at Bead Patterns for a week - July 5 through July 11.

You might like to try:

Snazzy Chain Necklace - Item # 11943

A great fun necklace that can use up lots of leftover beads and isn't any more complicated than chain stitching with a crochet hook. These make the perfect, light weight necklaces to pair with Summer wear.

Wired Zipper Necklace - Item # 16664

This is a great way to showcase an Art Bead. It's a balanced asymmetrical design. The wired section catches on a zipper toothed, triangular section of the rope to hold things where you want them - yet is fully adjustable. It would also look great with black & white paired with a primary colored Art Bead.

Copper Queen Caterpillar Bracelet - Item # 16554

Start planning for Fall with this rich, elegant bracelet made with drop freshwater pearls and real copper beads.

Caterpillar Bracelet in Lentils - Item # 16554

This one is fun for Halloween. However, you could pick out any color lentils and pair them with gilt lined opal seed beads.

Here's one my friend Cathy Lee made in lavender and pink.

And .... here is an easy bracelet to try right now:

Use YLI Jean Stitch variegated thread and string about 42" of clear 8/0 seed beads. Crochet in 6-around. This will make about a 7 1/2" rope/bracelet.

The variegated thread shows through the beads, giving you bands of color. This is the earth tone thread, but it also comes in bright jewel tones as well.

Have fun trying some of these Summer into Fall projects - Bead Crochet is the most portable beading there is.

Rocker Afternoon

My list of should do & must do is long. However it was such a pleasant afternoon without any wind that I said the heck with lists and took the time to sit on the back porch, enjoy the new buds on the Nopal cactus and crochet.

I've had this design idea for an expanded flat caterpillar that has been bugging me and I just had to see what it would look like. I'm liking it a lot. Subtle, muted zig-zag pattern, but very elegant.

Now back to the organized part of life that has lists in it!
.
.
By the way, I did get some cleaning done and weeded out my bead back stock. It won't fit, I'm tired of some colors and have a lot of "why ever in the world did I buy that" stuff. Anyone out there want 16 lbs of mostly seed beads + 80 10gm tubes of Delicas? I'll make you a darned good price.

Bead Room Clean Out Sale

Kit Sale from now til 2/28/2010

I have bead crochet kits left over from workshops, shows and web sales that are just taking up studio space. These kits will make between a 9" and 9.5", 6-around rope and have everything you need except a crochet hook.
*big-eye needle
*10 yards of 100% polyester thread
*safety pin
*beads
*stringing table
They do not show you how to do bead crochet.

I'm going to start with a series of kits that I have using variegated thread. The thread makes nice bands of color underneath the clear beads. It's the one way you can get banded color rather than spiraling colors. These kits can be had in either 8/0 or 11/0 beads. Quantities are limited.

This is a BLOG Special of $9 a kit

USA Shipping will be a flat $5 for one(1) to five(5) kits. Shipping will be free for 6 or more kits. International Shipping will be $15 for any quantity of kits. PayPal is the payment I can take. It will accept credit cards or e-checks also.
